Location of the Trabocco Coast.

The Trabocchi coast stretches from Pescara south to the north of Vasto. A Trabocco is a wooden fishing hut that sits in the Adriatic sea connected to the land by a, sometimes precarious looking, peer. They are protected and unique to Abruzzo. Large areas of the coast line are natural reserves. Abruzzo in 2011 had more European blue flags for beach quality than any other region in Italy. The Trabocchi coast in Abruzzo has both pebbled and sandy beaches. Some beach resorts are busy and organised and others are secret coves.
Casalbordino beach is a mix of pebbles and sand, it also has a few bars along the coast and a few restaurants too. It-s busy in the summer with tourists and locals. In the winter it-s quiet but the bars and restaurants are open.

Le Morge (Torino Di Sangro) is a long sandy beach, it-s well organized with lots of facilities and out of season it-s really quiet. The first week in June to the last week in August is busy with families holidaying. There are a few secluded beaches for privacy and there are some trabocchi.

Lago Dragoni is very secluded and private with pebbles and sand with excellent views.

Torino di Sangro is mostly a pebble beach with a bit of sand, but there is a swimming pool with a big slide - fun for children, with a pleasant sea breeze as the pool is an outdoor pool. This beach boarders a Natural Reserve of orchids and tortoises.

Fossacesia beach is covered with almost entirely of white pebbles, but a couple of meters into the water is sand. To the south, near the mouth of the sangro river the coast becomes lower and there are also sand dunes, and the boating marina / tourist port.

Rocca San Giovanni is made up of a few beaches , a mix of both pebble and sandy beaches with a few trabocchi which are beautiful.
Rocca San Giovanni has the beach resort Il Cavaluccio is prestigious and worth a visit.
At il trabocco - Punto Il Cavaluccio - there is a pebble beach which has a traboccho with a reasturant but you have to book in advance.

San vito Chietino is a sandy beach with a restaurants on the beach, award winning ice-cream two trabocchi and busy all year round. There is a train station 500 meters from the beach.
