Olive Picking week!

The Abruzzo countryside is painted with a silvery-green olive leaf reaching across the rolling hills from the Adriatic sea up to the Majella and Gran Sasso mountains. Olive Groves dominate the countryside creating a breathtaking sea of green. Fresh air, mild climate and generations of family traditions have created an extra-virgin olive oil which has earned world wide awards. Abruzzo olive oil is pressed cold and pressed only once. It is due to this traditional process that the local oil has a sediment which is not found in the mass produced oil and therefore a much richer flavour. Picking olives will allow you to witness this process from start to finish. You will also enjoy the fresh clean air, meeting the locals, enjoying the views under the Mediterranean sun and of course eating and drinking the Abruzzo foods.

We have a limited number of places for you to learn how to pick olives and follow the process of making this rich oil. Below are some examples of the accommodation you are going to stay in and we will organize trips to highly recommended restaurants for real Abruzzo cuisine, famous for the fresh ingredients and a slow food experience.

Abruzzo is considered the green region of Europe, being a beautifully picturesque example of rural Italy. Located in central Italy , just two hours from Rome, it enjoys access to various international airports (the closest being Pescara). Abruzzo also offers mountains at 3000 meters high and long stretches of beaches (300 days of sun a year) all within half an hour drive. You can marvel at the castles and Roman ruins and explore the vast national parks. In Abruzzo you can also find Roccaraso, the largest ski resort in the entire mountainous Apennines range, offering no less than 120km of pistes. Our Scandinavian clients call Abruzzo a paradise. Connect Abruzzo (C2PA) has been providing tourist services and working in Abruzzo since 2003, and is happy to welcome you!

I'm already feeling the area pull me in: the food, small town camaraderie, and local essence of Abruzzo have captivated me Today Abruzzo is known around the world for its fine pastas, olive oils and wine (deep red Montepulciano). But this is also saffron and truffle country and seafood from the nearby Adriatic. If you were going to choose a spot to massacre on canvas, it would be hard to find a much more breathtaking one than this. I am seated at the crown of Gessopalena, a village in Italy's Abruzzo region, with 360-degree views of rolling hills. Every now and then, though, the "best-kept secret" turns out to be exactly that, and the ski areas of Abruzzo fit that category. This is Abruzzo, untouched by the congestion of modern life. Believe me, as the economy totters and most of us are looking for more affordable breaks, there is no more perfect spot than here. I am, however, willing to risk death for a chance not only to eat real, true authentic Italian food but to do so with real, true authentic Italians

We invite you to visit us and experience the region directly
so contact Phillip or Giusy to organize your Olive Picking week! .
